Fence installation in Wallington with posts set in concrete and levelled before anything goes on them. Panel, closeboard and picket fencing, with gravel boards keeping the timber off wet ground.
Posts go in first, dug down around a third of the height above ground and set in concrete. Spacing is measured to the panel size so nothing has to be cut to fit. A post that is out of line or out of plumb shows along the whole run, so this is the slow part of the job.
More Information
A gravel board is the board that sits along the bottom, between the ground and the panel. It takes the damp and the splashing so the panel does not, and it can be swapped out cheaply when it goes. Concrete gravel boards last longest in ground that stays wet.
On a slope a fence is either stepped, with each panel level and a small drop between them, or raked so it follows the ground. Stepping suits panels and closeboard can be raked. We look at the fall along the line and tell you which will look better.
Fencing sits alongside our paving and landscaping work, and plenty of it is booked at the same time as a patio or driveway. We install fences across Wallington and south London, from a short run between two gardens to a full boundary replaced from scratch, all with posts set in concrete.

STILL NOT SURE?
An average garden boundary is a one to two day job. Taking the old fence out, digging the post holes and setting the posts is the bulk of it. Where the ground is full of old concrete or tree roots, digging takes longer and we allow for it in the quote.
The smooth side normally faces your neighbour, with the posts and rails on your side. It is a convention rather than a legal requirement, and it is useful because you can reach the fixings for repairs. If both sides matter, a double sided fence looks the same from either garden.
Yes. The old panels, posts and any concrete around them come out and go with us. Old concrete footings have to be dug out rather than left in place, as they sit exactly where the new posts need to go. Removal and disposal are included in the price.
